Surf Kayak

Surf kayaking

Surf kayaking shares some similarities with freestyle and traditional stand-up surfing. Athletes compete on ocean waves, planing down the face of the wave and using the speed and power of the water to perform various tricks and maneuvers. This is an extremely dynamic and expressive discipline, requiring intimate knowledge of the surf zone environment. In most competitions two types of boats are allowed: (a) International Class boats, which are long (3.5m) and fast, hard-carving surf machines, and (b) High-performance Class boats, which are shorter (about 2.3m), have sharp rails and fins, and can deliver rides to match those of stand-up surfers.
