Spring Development Training Camp Returns to Vancouver Island!

Canoe Kayak BC (CKBC) is thrilled to announce the 2025 Spring Development Training Camp, set to take place from March 17 to 21 at the picturesque Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club (VCKC). This camp is an exciting opportunity for young athletes to sharpen their skills, build a strong aerobic base, and prepare for the upcoming competitive season.

Camp Highlights The Spring Development Training Camp is designed to enhance technical abilities and improve overall fitness. With a mix of paddling and dryland sessions, participants will engage in up to three paddling sessions and one to two dryland activities each day. This intensive training format aims to set athletes up for success in the 2025 racing season and beyond.

Eligibility and Target Audience This camp is open to athletes aged 12 to 17 who meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in the 2024-2025 club winter program.
  • Competed in the 2024 BC Summer Games.
  • Plan to race in the 2025 competitive season.
  • Intend to apply for the 2025-2026 Next Gen Team.

Exemptions to these requirements may be granted with prior approval from CKBC’s Technical Director. Contact techdirector@canoekayakbc.ca for more information.

Camp Schedule and Location

  • Dates: March 17-21, 2025
  • Daily Schedule:
    • Arrival: 8:15-8:30 AM
    • Departure: 4:30-4:45 PM
  • Location: Victoria Canoe and Kayak Club, 355 Gorge Rd W, Victoria, BC V9A 1M9

Cost and Registration The cost of the camp is $345 per athlete, significantly subsidized by CKBC to make this high-quality training opportunity accessible. What to Bring Athletes should come prepared with the following:

  • Multiple changes of clothes appropriate for both paddling and dryland activities.
  • Running shoes.
  • Lunch and snacks (athletes are responsible for their own meals).

Additional Notes Boat storage is available at VCKC for the duration of the camp. If you require boat storage, please contact CKBC’s Technical Director at techdirector@canoekayakbc.ca.
