Ridge’s Brian Malfesi won two of three finals at this past weekend’s National Sprint Team Trials #2. This second set of team trials took place on Lake Banook in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
In the Men’s Senior K-1 500 A Final, Malfesi finished in 1:43.721 ahead of Vincent Jourdenais and Zane Clarke. He repeated this winning ways in the Men’s Senior K-1 1000 A final with a victory over Hunter Morrissey and Jacob Steele. Malfesi’s final race was the Men’s Senior K-1 200 A final where he finished 8th.
“While our World Cups teams are competing in Europe, these trials are a second competition opportunity for our Canadian paddlers to gain points in the selection process for the carded national sprint teams and the event will also serve as part of the selection process for the 2018 FISU World University Canoe Sprint Championships,” said Graham Barton, Chief Technical Officer at Canoe Kayak Canada.
