Re: Entry Level Competitive Coaching (ELCC) Courses

Attention Member Club Coaches, Athletes and Interested Volunteers

Canoe Kayak BC and its Member Clubs run predominantly on the work and commitment of Volunteers and committed Coaching Staff to offer programs and competitions throughout the province. CKBC is committed to ensuring that these Volunteers and Coaches have the proper skills and resources needed to run successful programs.

Canoe Kayak BC is pleased to offer Sport Specific Coach Training for Individuals who are interested in coaching athletes at the Club and Provincial level. The Entry Level Competitive Coaching (ELCC) course is the Canoe Kayak Canada (CKC) Sport Specific course designed by CKC in conjunction with the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) which focuses on the following aspects of coaching:

- Safety and Making Ethical Decisions (MED, EAPs and motor boat control)
- Providing Technical Support to Athletes in Training (Learning, feedback, and adaptations)
- Correcting performance in key elements of Canoe Kayak technique.
- Implementing appropriate structure and organization to practices (logistics).

Coaches are required to complete the ELCC course, along with the NCCP Multi-Sport Modules and pass an Evaluation of a Practice to be deemed Certified as an ELCC coach.  ELCC Certified coaches can coach at a Club level, and as a Head Coach at the BC Summer Games.
