Community Coach (CanoeKids)

Community Initiation workshops (CanoeKids) is an introductory coaching course. A multi-disciplinary approach (canoe, kayak, SUP, marathon, recreation, etc..) it teaches new and inexperienced coaches the role of the coach. Ensuring coaches offer a fun and safe environment  to teach the development of some of the “FUNdamentals” stage skills and abilities for participants. 
 
*Please note: We ask that all participants use a Google or G-Suite email account as all clinic material will be made available through Google Classroom.
 
Dates:
Clinic 1
Friday, April 28, 2023 - 6pm to 9pm (Virtual)
Saturday, April 29, 2023 - 10am to 1pm (Virtual)
Sunday, April 30, 2023 - 10am to 2pm (In person at Burnaby Lake - Practical Session)
*Out of town participants (further than 1.5 hour drive) please contact development@canoekayakbc.ca to discuss other options for the in person training. 
Clinic 2
Thursday June 1, 2023 - 6:00pm to 9pm (Virtual)
Friday June 2, 2023 - 6:00pm to 9pm (Virtual)
In-person portion is to be confirmed at a later date.
Clinic 3 Clinic 3 will be made available upon request.

$200.00 CKBC Member 
$250.00 Non-CKBC Member

Entry-Level Competitive Coach (ELCC)

Coaches must have previous coaching experience and are certified in the CanoeKids courses before registering for ELCC. Registrants have a desire to work with athletes in the sprint discipline  over the long term to improve performance, often in preparation for provincial, national, and international competitions.
Note: This course offering will involve the addition of the draft Surfski Coaching supplement.

Friday, May 11, 2023 - 6pm to 9pm (Virtual)
Saturday, May 12, 2023- 10am to 2pm (Virtual)

Friday, May 26, 2023 - Time TBD (In Person - Burnaby Lake)

$275.00 CKBC Member

Registration Process: 
Registration for all coaching courses will be done on the RAMP registration system. The registration links will be active soon and everyone will be made aware when registration opens. For on-line courses, there is a max capacity of 16 registrants. In the event there is demand, additional courses may be added. 

*If your club is interested in hosting an in person coaching course, please reach out to our Sport Development Manager at development@canoekayakbc.ca. Generally speaking, in order for the in person course to be feasible, a minimum of 6 registrants is required.
